Hello, St. George's!
I'm happy and excited to join you as co-interim during this time of transition. My husband George Hayman and I have worshiped with you frequently over the past two years since my retirement from Grace Church, Madison, and our move to South Orange. I served as rector of Grace for nearly twenty years, and prior to that was vicar of St. Alban's in Oakland/ Franklin Lakes for nine years. I graduated from General Seminary in New York City in 1984 (Bernie and I were classmates) and was ordained deacon and priest that same year in the Diocese of New York. After ordination, I served as curate at Church of the Ascension in Greenwich Village for three and a half years prior to moving to the Diocese of Newark.
Before seminary, I worked for two years as communications director at St. Bartholomew's Church on Park Avenue, which was also my sponsoring parish and the place I met and married George, and before that spent eleven years in the corporate world in various computer-related positions, something for which my undergraduate degree in Fine Arts had not prepared me!
I have enjoyed my retirement so far, but the opportunity to work with you wonderful folks as you discern your future was too good to pass up, and I look forward to an exciting journey together.
